Counselor In Training Program

What:

Our Counselor in Training (CIT) program is specifically designed for teens entering into 8th and 9th grade who want to develop their leadership skills in working with children. Teens will learn behavior management, team-building, communication and activity leadership by helping counselors work with younger campers. Supervised by our Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Director, teens will have the hands-on opportunity to assist group counselors, teach activities and plan special events.

Who:  The Counselor in Training program will be available for those entering 8th and 9th grade.  A limited number of applicants will be selected for each session.  Students accepted into the Counselors In Training Program are not counselors.

When:  The CIT program will run in 3 week sessions from July 15th-August 23rd.  Accepted CIT’s will attend either one or two sessions based off of registration preference.

  • Session 1: July 15th-August 2nd
  • Session 2: August 5th-23rd
  • Session 1 & 2: July 15th-August 23rd

How to apply:  Those who are interested must complete an application and set up an interview with CIT Director.  Based on the application and interview, a limited number of CIT’s will be chosen.  Applications will be accepted at The Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield between April 23rd and May 17th.  Interviews will be conducted May 20nd through 24th.
